Happy 60th Birthday Mom!!!!

60 years ago today, my mom was born. Just last week we were talking about how it doesn't seem possible. For some reason my mom will always be 40 to me. She just stopped there. Therefore, I'm only 20. So this year we are celebrating 20 and 40, respectively. Ahem, okay, it is the big 40 and the big 60. We'll pretend so don't blow it for us. We don't feel 40 or 60. Mom has been working 7 days a week for the past several weeks. It was difficult to plan a party for her. I wanted to surprise her with a BBQ today with some of her family. However, I knew she'd be tired working 10 hours a day at least. So for now, she had to deal with my cooking. I might add, it was great. Hubby didn't care for it, I loved it. Mom did too, I hope. We had Rosemary/Garlic Tilapia with fettucini alfredo/mushrooms/ broccoli, steamed broccoli, breadsticks and a very green salad. I meant to take a pic after I got the table lavished with all the food, but I forgot. Too hungry I guess. She raked it in with a made-from-scratch-carrot cake ala cream cheese frosting. Good grief I will never do that again. (Hubby like this one though.)

Looks a little off center, but it was good. I just never, ever want anything like it again. I believe it is sitting on a cake plate from mom's mom. I've had it for so long, I rarely use it. It's very pretty.

Notice she didn't get all of her candles. I didn't do that to her. Maybe I shoudl have?

She was gifted with a Cardinals T-shirt to wear to the game next Saturday. She also received a new Paula Deen Family Cookbook (I thought about keeping), a bunny to put in her flower garden, candy and vanilla flavored almonds and a strand of pearls (my favorite, I love the way they feel in my hands).

Kia wanted to get in on the goods too, but she didn't want to be a present.

Happy Birthday Mom, I love you!!

What a fun day and the food looks fabulous. If I ever come over to eat, make that for me, minus the cake. Gotta give up something to get the invite!
