I'VE BEEN BOO'ed

Okay, it's that time of year. I've been BOO'ed by two ghostly gals, Pam at Antique or Not and Tam at Apple Creek Cottage. Hmmm, as usual, I'm running late. I have to find bloggerville friends to BOO!!!

If I've sent you here, go to as many friends as you want and tell them that they've been "BOO!-ed". They should link back to your blog, pick up the cool Halloween pic, and BOO! their friends. Then put the pic in your sidebar so that everyone knows you've already been "BOO-ed" and to share the pic with someone else. Isn't this fun? Have a safe and fun Halloween!!!! I have a friend who loooooves Halloween. So I hope those of you that love this holiday as much as Savannah does, may you be BOO'ed by many sweet little ghosts and goblins on the 31st. I can't wait to see them!!

Taco Dip

Since the weather is getting cooler it's time for comfort foods. So the hubby says. Only he wouldn't know a comfort food if it hit his golf balls. But this is one of his favorites. This recipe for Taco Dip is one my mom received from a co-worker many, many moons ago. It is quite tasty and NOT figure friendly. Today is the day hubby wanted Taco Dip. So, I thought I'd share this comforting recipe.
I think I've posted about this utensil before, my mix-n-chopper or something like that from The Pampered Chef. EVERYONE should have one of these. Especially this time of year when soups, dips and chilis are being made. It helps make the meat finer and mashes herbs and spices unlike you can with a spoon. I bought mine about a year ago and have boughten several more as gifts.
Looks pretty uninviting huh? I promise, and the hubby promises, it's pretty good!
Ditto...
Yes, once you get all the ingredients mixed together, it does look like baby pooh!!!
I've been buying block cheeses because they are so much cheaper than the already shredded kind. Plus, I do think it tastes a little better too. Whatever is leftover the hubby loves to eat.

Tempted? My dad used to eat this like chili. We eat it more like a dip. A little is enough for me, but the hubby really likes a lot of it.

Taco Dip

2-1/2 lb. gr. beef

1 medium, chopped onion

1 (10-3/4 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup

1 (10-3/4 oz.) can cream of chicken soup

1 pkg. taco seasoning

1 (16 oz.) jar picante sauce -we use medium, if you want fire go hotter...

1 lb. shredded cheese - cheddar, colby or monterey jack whatever your preference.

Brown ground beef and onion. Drain. Add soups, seasoning and picante sauce in a large pot. Drizzle the cheese to get stringy throughout the mixture. Can be used to slow cook in a crock pot for game day!! I hope you enjoy!!

Let's Party with Susie Q.

What a party, if you have your boogie shoes on, come on to NYC with Susie Q for her birthday. Happy 52 Susie Q!!!!

The Winner Is...

The time has come to pass on my lovely parting items to a new friend. She seems really sweet and I cannot wait to spend more time with her. The winner to my fall, pumpkin loving, acorn gathering, good sniffing candle, 100th post....

All the hats...

All the names....

Since names outnumbered the hats, we opted to put them in a big bowl...
Mom drew the lucky winner. Diane from diane's much loved prims. Please email me Diane at ldpogue@live.com. I will try my best to get this in the mail to you tomorrow since I don't work on Mondays. I'm excited because my sweet friendly pumpkin and romantic smelling candle is making a trip half way around the globe. And Diane, I promise there are a few good sniffs left in that wonderful candle!!! Congratulations!!

***********************************************************

I have to show you my new wreath. Part of the reason why I was so late today was because Mom and I HAD to make a trip to the Ben Franklin's Store. This, believe it or not, the fall, berry loaded wreath had an original price tag of $34.99. I got it for $5.00. My lucky day. I almost bought it for half price last week, so glad I didn't!!! Fall is here in mid Missouri everyone. I hope you have a great one. I hope to visit everyone who left comments for my giveaway. Thanks to all of you!

************************

Tonight on the way home from work, it started raining. Then I saw a strand of rainbow. I kept looking behind us to see if I could see another portion. The weather was really weird. The clouds were dark, yet the sky was blue behind us. Then all of a sudden, it jumped out of nowhere. The absolute, most perfect rainbow I've ever witnessed. I've never ever seen one in my life. We could see from one end to another. Perfect. I wish I had my camera. (Especially the one Reynaldo threw away!) The rainbow was so bright, colorful and perfect. It really made my evening.

Hi Everybody

Hey everybody, it's me Annie P. Had to say hi 'cause I haven't been on assignment in awhile. See me? I got a bath. I don't like 'em, but I got one. The other girl did too. Mom tricked me in this shot. She said "grandma" and I stood at attention 'cause I thought I was going for a ride to see grandma. No, I got tricked. See the other girl's foot in the picture? She got a bath too. She liked it though. If I'm nice I may decide to show her pic too. Lots of stuff going on around here. Mom's complaining 'cause the house is a mess. ReyRey knocked over Mt. Dew on the carpet. heehee. Me and the other girl just sat back and watched the fireworks. That darn cat. He's gettin' braver and more perverted. He bites my tail and feet. He's that kinda guy. I knew I shoulda called in the Coon Brigade last spring. Back to me. Do you like my furry curly collar? The other girl doesn't have one. I grow one every fall, I love it. The girls next door in doggy jail asked me if was real. Can ya believe it? Just cause I'm prettier, they have to be all nasty about it. Gotta go, that crazy cat is up to no good. Me and the other girl gotta get good seats.

The other girl...

GIVE-A-WAY

Hello? Anyone? Anyone remember me? It's been a while. I think I'm over my lazy fit. I was lazy all last week. I'm better now and I promise to try my best to stay away from the "fog".

Remember, I know it's been a while, I told you I had a give-a-way planned for my 100th post? Here it is. I know (keep in mind I'm not using the word intention) I should have posted this much earlier. Better late than never right? Right.

I love these little pumpkins. I really should put my name in the hat too! Up for grabs is the Faith Family Friends Pumpkin, a "jack" pin, little fall ornies, a primitive acorn candle ring and my very favorite candle emphatically named, "Woods". I'm telling you ladies, the lucky winner of this candle will be begging me for more!! heee heee.

Now the rules. Don't worry. You don't have to send me gas money or your first born. Just kindly leave me a comment to get your name entered into one of the hubby's "lucky" Cardinal hats he failed to wear this season. AND, to get your name into the drawing twice, I grant you permission to borrow my picture above, post it on your blog and link back to my sight. Then you, yes you lucky lady may be the winner of the that savory, luscious candle I can't stop sniffing.

I will draw the lucky winner Saturday night.

I know I said no more sad stories or bad stories in a previous post. But, I lied. Again. I have one more. I'm sick about it. One night 2 weeks ago Reynaldo woke me up. I could tell he was playing on my computer desk and knocked something over. No problem. I knew from experience that I did not have my water glass sitting out, so whatever it was, no problem. No problem until the day of trash pickup. The hubby had the cat doing something wild and I thought I could take a video of it to put on my blog. Panic. No camera ANYWHERE. Reality soon sat in as I recalled the loud noise I heard the nights earlier. The night I thought it was all okay because I didn't have my glass sitting out for my computer to get drenched, again. Reynaldo had knocked off my camera into the trash can. The hubby took the trash to the curb just that Friday morning of the ReyRey's antics. The hubby rarely remembers the trash by my desk. But no, not that Friday. ReyRey trashed my camera!!! It's up on Teter hill, in the landfill of no good. Now I'm back to taking pictures like the blurry one above. My stomach still jerks. I still feel the well of tears that would not produce. I should've checked. I should've looked all around the next morning to see what the noise was about. That night... I should've served... the hubby... crockpot kitty...

Arrow Rock

The weather was beautiful today. We decided to take a road trip to Arrow Rock. Population of 79. I've only been here one other time, many moons ago. It is such a clean, quaint little town with a huge heart. My friend Susan has a son majoring in photo journalism at MU. Shane Epping and two other editors along with 25 photographers did a book project on Arrow Rock. They took pictures and interviewed all of the population. The book is absolutely wonderful. If you get an opportunity check it out on www.arrowrockarts.org. It's called "Arrow Rock Where the Past is the Future". All of the profits from the book go to the tiny town of Arrow Rock. The people there were so appreciative they treated all of the students like kings and queens once the book was complete. Special dinners and keys to the city. After viewing the book, I decided I must return to this sleepy little town. And, all it did was make me wish for $$$$ so I can fix up a cozy home and live there quietly too.

Wonderful old homes. We hope to return soon to see more of the fantastic homes here. The streets were so crowed with cars it was difficult to get around.

Artwork...

Lots and lots of pottery...

Mums...

Caners. I believe she said she would charge $25 a square...

Rug making demonstration...

Toys...

This man was working very intently on his chairs...

Hickory, oak, cherry, you name it...

A furry fella enjoying the day...
Dried gourd displays...

The Christian Church...

Another beautiful, HUGE home...

This old tree was growing at the corner of the lot of the brick home. There was a tree within a tree...

A cute little house...

Carriage rides down mainstreet...
The newspaper office/meeting hall...

More craft wares...
Bread bowl making demonstration...

The courthouse, my camera didn't do very well here for some reason, only 1 other pic turned out
The courtroom. There was also a fireplace in the back and the judge's chambers. Men must have been super tiny back then. A small twin size bed and a chair with a small desk inhabited his area. Ink wells and quills to write your name. A seal to seal the deal...

Where the water runs on a rainy day...

A broom-making demonstration...

An arrowhead demonstration...

Making homemade paper. This lady was awful kind to tell us all about it. The official papermaker went to get something to eat so she explained the steps to creating the sheets of paper. You can see them hanging to dry on the dryer behind her. 50 cents a sheet.

The paste to make homemade paper. You can see one hanging to dry in the background.

After we left the crowed streets of Arrowrock, we headed back south and took a right to Blackwater. They were having a little street festival too. I only got one picture of the Native Americans doing their thing.

Oops, I forgot about this one. This is a little flower garden between two old buildings.

Maybe when the snow falls and the homes are lit in Christmas splendor we will return for more photos...
