Just a Couple of Pet Peeves

After reading a few blogs about other blogger's pet peeves, I've decided it's my turn. Finding it amusing, humorous, and embarrassing because I may do a few of my fellow blogger's peeves myself, I truly do not intend to offend anyone with this post.

The hubby is really rubbing off on me. He's definitely not a telephone kinda guy. Now he loves gadgets and has mentioned "blackberry" to me a couple of times. I really let it go in one ear and out the other because we just aren't into that kinda stuff. We have friends, we have family and we have emergencies just like anyone else. However, what on earth did we EVER do BEFORE cell phones? Can anyone answer that rationally? Is it really necessary for people to talk on their cell phone while parking their butt on a toilet in the stall next to mine at a decent restaurant? Out of nowhere I hear, "HELLO?" I'm thinking to myself, "there must be one crazy squirrel next door and I am not going to answer!" Then I hear, "are you there? What's going on?". I'm thinking to myself, "what do you mean what the %*&@!! is going on?" After a few moments of thinking I was stubbornly refusing to answer the squirrel, trying to speed up the urination process, I finally realized the squirrel was talking on her cell phone. Good grief! Shouldn't a bathroom be sacred? There are just no secrets when you're raising your voice for the responding party to hear.

The hubby has other cell phone issues. His involves talking on your cell phone while driving. Big no no in his life. I must admit, I've done it a few times, not much. He hates it. "HATES it", I say! I can see his blood pressure rise when he witnesses someone yacking on their cell while driving. You have to admit, most people really don't multi-task THAT well. They think they do, but really they don't.

I also live for the day restaurants post signs saying "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service AND NO CELL PHONES". Really, do you want to listen to someone talking loudly while you are having a relaxing meal with your friends. Come on, I don't!

Enough about that, lets move on. Another pet peeve of mine is people not letting me finish what I'm trying to say or ignoring me when I'm telling them something. I'm the world's most boring person, this I know. When I stop talking in the middle of my sentence, don't bother asking me to finish, I'd hate to intrude upon your exciting life.

Email. Remember when people were so excited to start emailing because it was soooo much better than writing letters and sticking them in snail mail? I truly believe those are the very same people who DO NOT respond to simple little questions I email them. Truly, I do truly believe those are the same people who sit on their butts every night with a computer in front of them. When they email me, they want me to respond RIGHT now, or they call, "didn't you get my email?" Okay, I have to admit, if I don't respond real fast, well, think about it...

Insecurity. I should be an expert. I mean that. We are all a little insecure at times. Unfortunately some more than others. I've heard some things this week that made me so angry. I find it appalling when people undermind, say hurtful things, stir trouble and so on, all at the expense of others. Just because misery loves company. Is it really necessary to draw people in to wreak havoc just to make themselves feel a little better? This happens in blog world too. I cannot imagine leaving a nasty message anonymously (or at all for that matter) when I can just click out of the area I don't like or agree with. To pick on someone for how they look, what they believe in or how they live is so crazy. We are here to make friends, educate ourselves and just simply, make life a bit more fun. Am I getting old? I think so. (Yes Kindra, 40 is knocking!)

One more. It's that time again. Politicians. Are any of them honest? I mean really? I'm not completely sure. But I am sure, at 8:30pm when the phone rings and my caller ID reflects, "Out of Area", and I pick up the phone to hear A RECORDED MESSAGE FROM SOMEONE I DO NOT KNOW TELLING ME HOW WONDERFUL AND TRUSTWORTHY THEY ARE really, REALLY makes me want to scream. And yes I can complain because I have emailed the attorney general's office. Although I'm not completely sure he really cares. But he says he does. hmmm....let me get ter thinkin....

I'm ending this grouch session by adding I've had a few really great conversations with people this week. One fella in particular always enlightens me in a positive way. I even told him every time I have a conversation with him, it's like going to church, there's always a message that involves me. He told me he taped a note on his computer which helps keep him positive. The note reads, "YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK". I've since printed those words to attach to my own computer in hopes to keep these pet peeves at bay. hmmm....we'll see....

Hi Lisa...You hit on some of my pet peeves, too! That one about the phone in the public restroom, in particular. That happened to me for the first time just a couple of months ago. It was a tad strange!

Good morning Lisa :)

All those things irritate me too, but the email part...I'm awful at getting back to people. I read them and then they get lost in the 100s I get everyday. I try to respond to the questions, but when it's just a basic email, you may never hear from me. I'm a bad person :(

The cell phone things drives me nuts! Is a call really so important that you need to answer it in the bathroom?? LOL

You sound like my kind of people, Lisa. :) If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. I have seen many rude comments in blogland...now I know what cyber bullying is about.

Cell phones-hate them. Just the other day, I was waiting for this young gal to turn at the stop sign. Waiting, waiting....she finally went and I went in the other lane to see what the heck was going on. It looked like she was text messaging while driving! I have a phone, but only for emergencies. And nothing like trying to pee and a gal is talking on the phone while she's going herself. :(

I could go on and on. It's sure a different world these days. Not so many good manners used. :(

Hope you have a great Sunday!

You are so right about the phones. I am a sixth grade teacher and its the big thing to have a cell phone. So the staff try to make it clear to the students that they are not allowed in school (they can leave them in their lockers though) but its mostly the parents that feel they want to be able to call their kids in case of an emergency. However, like you said, people lived many, many safe years without the use of a cell phone. Admit it though, you feel naked when you leave home without it - I do.
