A Favorite, A Give-A-Way & A Love Story

Bunnies are the thing this spring. So, that's two of my favorite things right there. Remember that give-a-way I promised? Some of my favorite things? I've included both: a bunny and a spring sign. Added to that, is a favorite candle. I promise you ladies, this is delicious. It may be a little strong at first, but I'm sure you can handle it. If you can't just simply return it to me. Just kidding. I really don't expect you to do that. However, there is a twist to this. Rather than just have you enter a comment with your name or blog attached, I've decided to ask for a little creativity. You see, if you know me you know I get bored rather easy. So I need a little entertainment for this cute little bunny. Let me get my thinkin' cap on. While you look at the pictures, I should be ready to tell you, the rest of the story...

Isn't he precious? I had to post this before I changed my mind to keep him all to myself. He was the only one left. Hubby even asked why didn't I just buy two. So, with that being said, here are your requirements:
You hear Taylor Swift singing "Love Story" on my blog. I love this song. I think young Taylor's songs all sound the same, but there's something dreamy and romantic about "Love Story". It's a curse of all young girls around the world. Looking for their own Romeo with dad attempting to shoe them away. She sings of standing on a balcony in summer air (that's my fav line in the whole song, except I would have written it: standing on a balcony of summer air, that's a bit more dreamier), ball gowns, prince & princess, The Scarlet Letter, escape, a ring and saying yes. Goodness I could go on and on...

So you wonder, what do I ask of you? Tell me a bit of your first love story. Doesn't have to be a master piece. Just romantic, funny or sad. Spring is the time a young man's fancy turns to love. In my case, golf. But, most generally, love. Did you end up with your Romeo? Did he get away? Did Dad shoe him away? Did you leave him in the dust? How old were you and your first love? And, if you sang a song about your first love like Taylor Swift, just how many breaths would you take during the whole song? I swear I think she only takes about 4 breaths during this whole song.
If you choose to take part in trying to win this cute bunny, send me a synopsis of you own Romeo and Juliet. You can email me, as you can see on my sidebar, or brief me in the comment section. If you wish, post my giveaway on your blog as well for other's to link back to me. Let me know if you do. A winner will be selected by either a jury for best story and if a decision cannot be made, then that lucky Cardinal hat will be put to good use! I cannot wait to hear your stories! AND I hope to have more than 5 entries....PLEASE!!!

Hmmm, time frame, how about a week from today. Get your story to me by Sunday evening, March 29, 2009, by 8pm Central Standard Time.
If you are tired of "Love Story" just click on the Funny Bunny Hop. Man it's cute!!
And, if you need a hint to get started, I may share ONE of my first love stories. Maybe....

This is a good one! Well, here it goes. I actually met my Romeo in first grade. Mid year I was transferred into his class. The teacher gave me a seat in front of a very cute little boy. In the rush of moving I had forgotten my crayons. That nice little boy (my Romeo) let me borrow his. He still remembers what I was wearing that day...a black velvet dress with a white collar and black tights. We remained the best of friends throughout elementary school. I was always the tallest girl in the class and he was the shortest boy. However the summer before tenth grade he grew 7 inches. Yea! In February of that year we started dating. Our first date was to a high school basketball game. We have been together since. We went to different colleges but never broke up. In fact we never had even one fight. We have been married over 28 years and have two great kids. I can honestly say that I love him more everyday. We still are very best friends and he is still my very handsome Romeo! :)

What a great idea. I'll pass on the story, but would love to be on your jury!!!! haha... Nah, you can handle it... I would love to read some of them, though... If I told you I went on my first date with my first husband and his best friend Roscoe, and the two of them let in a live sparrow into the house and it crashed into everything... I'd win... so I won't tell you what happened when my first took me AND his best friend to the Valentine Sweetheart Banquet.... hahahahahah....

I'd love to have that precious bunny.

My first love: I met him in Champagne Illinois. I went skating with his sister and he skated with me. I was instantly in love. Sadly, my family moved away and I lost touch with him. Even though I'll never forget him or the night we met, I can't remember his name...after all, it was 67 years ago....and I was 8 years old.

What a nice give away! That bunny is precious!

About Taylor Swift, I rarely ever listen to anything other than Christian music, but I caught the video while flipping channels one night. WoW! I loved the period costumes, the song and the prince, well let's just say, he's hot! And she is so pretty in her princes outfit. But the period clostumes and the setting is what sold me on the song. I am such a romantic anyway!

Now for my love story....well, I thought I was in love many times before I met my hubby. I was wrong. Maybe it was only puppy love before, but when I met the man I would marry, I knew it instantly. I met both of his brothers first, who both liked me. And I liked them too, and was trying to make up my mind which one I really wanted to go out with. Then in walks their baby brother, and he swept me off my feet without saying a word! It was his eyes, and his gentle nature. Opposite of both big brothers. He was quiet and reserved and they were both big mouths. And while they were busy trying to show off, he walks over and introduces himself and we walk away leaving the brothers gawking! LOL! It was like we had an instant bond, and we were inseperable from that moment on. We will celebrate our 28th anniversary in June. And I can tell you for a fact, that love grows with every passing day. He has been and still is a blessing in my life. I hope I have made him as happy as he has made me.

Have a great week!

Oohh what a neat giveaway idea!! Love the bunny! So cute!!

Lets see.. I met my first love the summer I turned 7. We were at a family deaf camp, and there was an older boy, I think he was about 10 maybe 11. He was sooo cute. I remember my older sister teasing me about liking him and she asked me why I liked him. I told her I liked him because he gave me the prize in his crackerjacks box. I have a picture of the 2 of us somewhere if you want to see it..
My love for him continued for 2 summers.. (okay really just the 2 weeks or however long we were at the camp for.. so like 4 weeks maybe...)

First off..love the mischevious bunny. My love story is about my hubby..my one and only. He was my neighbor when we were little. We both moved out of town, and became "neighbors" once again. I began dating him at 17, when my dad was quite ill. He worked nights, i worked days, so he moved in to help keep an eye on dad for my mom who didnt drive. One day the washingmachine broke, so we had to take the laundry to the laundromat...as we were sorting the "unmentionables" he said "im living in your house, why dont we just get married" I said "ok" and we drove down the road to an inexpensive jeweler for a ring. It had to be sized, so the day it came in, he picked it up and came home. I was in the bathroom (ahem, "sitting") when he opened the door and tossed it to me. We had an inexpensive no frills wedding... We have been together 28 years, married 25 on April 14th of this year. He is the most DOWN TO EARTH wonderful person, who has shown me nothing but respect all these years. He is my best friend as well as my husband, no one can make me laugh like he does. Forget those fancy gifts, flowers, etc...my husband has been my rock, and for that i am forever grateful...i have everything i need :-)

I love this Bunny! My first love wow it really was a true love. This is something not many people know, but I am not ashamed at all it made me who I am today.
My story starts out on the CB radio..I always talked on there much like kids do on the net today. My name on the Radio was" Kitty Cat"I was only 13 at the time.I kept hearing and talking to a young man that was from our rival town. He was on the football team and I was in the pep squad at our school. My sister threw me a huge party and dance for my birthday and I invited him to come. Never thinking a good looking important guy like this would come.He did and I was in love.He was what every girl dreams about. Tall, good looking, the guy who made the touch down that sent his team to the State play offs. He had just broken up with one of the cheerleaders there.Wow those girls all hated me,but he sure didn't. I was so young, but mom and dad allowed him to come to my house and me go to his.The next thing I knew I had his Lettermans jacket. I was on top of the world. The love of a young pure heart was falling more and more. I loved his mom and dad and he loved mine. Little by little mom trusted me to start going to his ball games. His parents would pick me up and I followed this team to watch my Star football player.I will never forget the time I wore the jacket to my school..Pride filled my heart until the principle called me in the office. He took the jacket because he said the boys from our team were going to take it and destroy it.
Even though I was young nothing could stop my heart. We dated for two years an I enjoyed the proms, games and parties that was thrown for the team that was top in the state. He was older than me and was to graduate and go away to school.Me still in school I was so afraid. He went to school for a short time, but I guess he missed me as much as I did him. He came home and ask my dad if we could get married.I was 15. Dad fell all apart and said no. I think I was sick and cried for weeks. Finally I got the big talk and dad thought about how they married so young and told us it would be hard. Finally he agreed.Hard it was,but I had the dream wedding. The most beautiful dress money could buy. I remember back then we shopped from catalogs. Mom and dad didn't have much money, but mom charged it so I could have it. Live was great.I had a good example of a wife from my mom and I started out a marriage taking care of a home, cooking and still in school. Everyone in my school started to hate me because I married the rival guy from the next town. We moved to his town and he got me a beautiful old home that women dream of today. With me in school and him working things started to fall apart. He became controlling and non trusting.Even though he never came home that I didn't have a good old country meal cooked his friends an family started to lie and say I would be up town running around while he worked.I started to see a side of him I never knew. What happened to my tall dark handsome Romeo?Jealousy and no trust took over and he became mean. It hurt me so bad because all the stories were not true.I couldn't prove it to him and we were both so young after three years the marriage started to fall apart. In stead of my dream I was living a nightmare.Nothing I could do would change it so after three years one when day he came in acting like a man I didn't know and love.
I went home to mom and dad and we got dad divorce. I cried so much..I wanted the life with him we had before, but his mind was made up.It was so hard, but I had to move on.
The story doesn't end bad though after many years his mom still loves my children now and has picture of them on her refridge.I married my husband now and has been 26 years and he married and it felled also. He still lives in our home town and we talk often. My family still visits his mom when I go home and we send cards. He and I have talked to try and close what happened and we both agree we were to young. Even though im very happy and God sent me a great man and three beautiful children NOTHING will ever take that little piece of my heart that I had for my first love.

Let's see here, I really love this rabbit!!! My first love, I met when I was 16. He was the lifeguard at the swimming pool, had just got home from air force training, and had tattoos. And he was lovely. Well, all the girls at the pool loved him too. Needless to say, he asked me out on a date...and I married him 2 years later. And now, we are still married, with 3 kiddos.

Well Lisa - I did find my soulmate. He wasn't my first love but he is my ever-lasting love. We met at the state park where we both worked during the summer. We became the best of friends - spending the weekends riding 4-wheelers, going to the lake - all the while we were at seperate universities a great distance apart. It took years for me understand the importance of his presence in my life. He's kind, giving, his heart is good and he loves me and our family immensely. I'm blessed and I'm grateful to God for the blessing of my wonderful husband.

I will have to think about a nice way to present my screwed up love story. Yes, that is exactly what I will do.

I heard a Taylor Swift song on my car radio today. It mentioned a princess, I think. It made me teary. I spend the entire PMS week eating and crying over everything, so I was not concerned with the driving and crying. Wasn't that a band name? I don't know if it was the same song. They do all sound alike.

I love the bunny and the sign!

I had just broken up with my HS sweetheart of three years. Bob, my husband, was my best friend all through HS. So, of course, I went to Bob to tell him about the break up. He gave me a week to mope, then he asked me to the park, where he proceeded to tell me that he'd been in love with me for the past year and that he didn't tell me because of Brian. So we started slow, dated for two years, he went to college, and we got married. We've been married for nearly 32 years now.

Great giveaway Lisa!! Well, my true love was not my first love. We met at the fair and after two dates I knew that he was the one for me! I even told a friend that I was sure that I would marry this guy...we were married a year later!!!

Like many others, my true love is not my first love, although he will be my last! We met at Applebee's of all place, me killing time before I met up with someone else, and him picking up dinner to go. We talked the night away as he forgot dinner and I forgot my appointment.

Although there were ups and downs in between, we still were married less than a year later. That was nine years ago and I almost have him trained now! LOL

Wow. The 29th- no pressure here! All of my early life I was a loner. I didn't appreciate my friends like I should have, and always swore that I didn't want/ wouldn't have a boyfriend. I had one summer fling the summer before my freshman year. We lived within walking distance, and both loved Top Gun- which was a really big deal to me at the time (just trust me on that one...) We spent the summer walking, riding bikes, and laying on the trampoline and wondering together what life would bring. He taught me how to play a few simple songs on his keyboard. Being non-musical I thought he was magic.
When high school started we drifted apart. We hung around with different groups and didn't have any classes or even lunch together.
The summer after my senior year (after dating a loser for two years) we reconnected. We had a wonderful summer driving to the lake, walking, I practiced writing my name as it would be if I married him and we wondered what life might bring us... I remember wondering aloud why we drifted apart in the first place.
I went away to college and we lost touch. I sometimes wonder why? We were always so comfortable together and it just fit...
It took four years of many bad relationships for me to meet my future. He swept me off of my feet and wowed me right off the bat. I love him more and more each day!
But, sometimes I wonder about the one who got away???

My first love took place in the 8th grade, my first kiss, too. His name was Gary and he was "one of those boys", you know the one's your momma wants you to stay away from and never talk to. It was a sweet relationship without a lot of drama...until I broke up with him (8th grade, what did I know).

I talked with a friend who lives in my home town about a year ago. Gary is now married with children and has a business of his own. Hearing that made me feel good because the last time I checked on an old beau, I found out that he had died well before his time and of an undisclosed illness.

Am I in love now? Nope. Do I want to be in love? Nope. Over the years I've found that my life is much less complicated when all I have to care for are my animals and all I need to love are my children and grandchildren.

Do I need that bunny. Yes. Why? Because I will love the bunny and give him a good home. Bunny won't just be on display at Easter, he will have an honored place in my home with a ribbon around his neck and will remind me that even if people live far away and have never met you personally they can still touch your life in many ways.
