Opening Day Part I

We LUCKED into Opening Day tickets yesterday. Thanks to a co-worker who already had tickets, he was offered other tickets and thought of us. This is the first time hubby and I got to see an Opening Day Game. Fun. A blast. We'd love to "LUCK" into these tickets every year. I don't think I've ever seen St. Louis so friendly and fun. Even, considering the biting cold, windy weather.
There was entertainment all around. Newcasters getting comments for the 5:30pm news.

Fans fans everywhere. You can tell how dreary the day appeared. Enthusiasm couldn't be dampened!!
A cold weathered fan, prepared...

A welcoming sign. Notice, the 2009 All-Star game will be in St. Louis this year. If any of you may know any inside tricks to get at least 2 tickets, PLEASE email me. That would be so incredibly awesome of you to do so!!!!

Fans...

Bands on every side and every corner. This guy was awesome. Hubby wasn't as quite appreciative of the entertainment as I was, he was more interested in chasing down the freebies. Why is it that people who cannot get enough free stuff really irritate me? Always have. I've made plans for next year already. Hubby will have to find a friend to help find the freebies, I will just enjoy the entertainment!!!

Perfect color coordinated tulips. I wish I had this pic for the "Stripes" Photo Hunt this past Saturday!

Now I know this guy kept warm. He made sure everyone read his sign.

This was a video I took of some funky line dancing. Hubby kept walking off, so I kept taping, he had to be patient. I was having a good time. Next year I'll be dancing too. While he's chasing free stuff that is...

Okay girls, are you sure you are suppose to be doing this? I told the hubby they were Amish Girls Gone Wild. He looked at me like I had two heads. I went on to explain they left their community. I think he was wondering if that were true...

The Old Man Band..the funny thing was...

these two inebriated guys dancing their booties off to the Old Man Band Music. They were having quite the time. Their two girlfriends sat on a bench far back giggling. They were not feeling the cold weather.

Everyone was getting their faces painted. After making the suggestion several times to hubby, he finally relented. He loved it but wished he had shaved before we came. I love his goatee/mustache, but he hates to shave. So once a week he shaves. Another good reason to shave.

I would hate this job. There were about 4 people airbrushing...

he HAD to have the word Cardinals on there. HAD TO!!!

I followed suit. Since it did snow/was snowing that day, I opted for the blue starburst which reminded me of wintertime. I also had a little added sparkle too. Even the old ladies said mine was prettier...heeheehe...

Hubby looked a little long at the Bud Light truck. I was afraid he might hookup here.

Dancing was just a part of the fun filled day. Tweety was in his element with Sylvester shaking his tail too.

Fountains were even Cardinal Red.

This has always been one of my favorite views in St. Louis.

A little posed maybe? A new friend told me to put on his hat so I did. A good Christmas card maybe?

Our new friend. He struck up a conversation over St. Louis Cardinal Floor Mats. I now have his email because he wanted me to take his picture so he could send it to his son in the military. Actually he wanted me to use his cell phone, but I thought my digital camera would be better. He was very sweet. He was VERY happy the airbrushing was free this year. Last year he brought 6 grandkids and had to pay $4 a piece for them to get painted. He was tall and showed us a picture of his son, the Marine, who stands 6'9". Can you imagine? Where were the tall boys when I was young and single?
At this point we left the shop and went back to our seats in Right Center Field on the bleachers. Great seats. I tried getting bleacher seats last year, but couldn't. It was the first time hubby and I actually stayed in our seats without getting up. It was just too cold. Every once in a while it would snow or spit a little sleet like stuff. The temp said 40, but with the wind chill, it was pretty darn cold. It was a day I am so thankful for because we had such an amazing time. The spirit in St. Louis, contagious. Only if everyday could be like Opening Day.

Hi! I read every word and looked at every photo ~ twice! I loved how you let us see so much of the opener atmosphere. My sister (in St. Louis) called me when the game ended to tell me the Cards lost the game in the last innings.

I have always loved the image of the Courthouse and Arch too ......
Your facial art is spectacular and the posed photo is priceless. Go Cards!!!!!
