An hour after the game started and it was a blustery 41 degrees. Lets factor in the wind chill, all I can say about that is, it's just too cold!!
We got inside the stadium an hour before game time. Fans were taking their seats.
Because we had to walk around, hang out in the shop and talk with our new friend Joe, we missed a little of the introduction of all of the Cardinal players. This was one of my favorite parts.
A whole lotta Ford Pickup Trucks.
What's a game without Fredbird? Well, it just wouldn't be a game now would it?
Brendan Ryan had the right idea. I had to turn around and get his pic on the jumbotron because all of my pics were blurry when they drove by.
You know what's coming. The Grand Ole Flag. A bald eagle was turned loose to fly around the field for a short time after the Star Spangled Banner. Awesome!! Fans were going ape nuts! We got to see Stan Musial walk up to the pitcher's mound to throw out the first pitch. Actually because, "he threw out his arm the night before in practice," Red did the honor for him.
That was awesome too. He's 88 years old and skinny as a rail. I'm not sure how he got out of that golf cart, but he did. (The young girl driving was a cutie, I bet he really didn't want to get out of that golf cart!) I'm sure it was a fantastic, memorable day for him too. It gave me chills!!

Fans, fans, fans...
Yes ladies, I got to admire this for quite some time on Monday evening!

Here's Ryan and his stirrups. THIS my friends, is what a baseball uniform SHOULD look like!!!!
For all you Cardinals fans out there, you know all about Big Mac Land. And if you don't, sorry, I just don't have time to go into details. Notice Ronald McDonald.
This guy was sitting beside my husband. He had the right idea. My nose sure was cold, especially after catching glimpses of him.
Pujols. Albert Pujols. A few years ago I found a tshirt for hubby that said, "GOT PUJOLS?" All the old men commented to hubby when he wore that shirt. I need to find him another.

I have no idea what this fella's name is, but he came flying down the steps out of no where. Begging, I mean BEGGING for volunteers to do a naked dance off. Men only I should add. Everyone was volunteering their neighbor. I tried to get hubby to volunteer, but he's just a private dancer if you know what I mean.

Hi Lisa, What a fun day you must have had. I hope our Tigers do a little better this year. I love how the crowds get all caught up in the excitement at events like that. I hope you and your family have a very happy and blessed Easter ♥
What a fun day that must have been. Thanks for sharing it all with us!
Wow at the red. Lots of fans. It looks like a ball and the dance looked pretty good too =)
Looks like a great day! Boston's first day was rained out! Bleah :(
That looks like a super fun day! Being that sports hold no interest to me (except for golf), I usually spend baseball games (one or two a summer) looking at cute guys, players, and fans. I agree, that guy was looking directly at YOU!!!
I will share your post with my hubby. He would love to attend an opening day, but is always stuck behind his desk at work.
LOL, how much fun was that!!!
It was just the best time...I can feel it in your words!!
Our son in law worked at a nursery in Brentwood or around Brentwood when he was a teenager. He's 44, now. Anyway, the last time we were over there he was talking about how Stan Musial was one of their regular customers and visited quite often. How thrilling that must have been for him, to be in the presence of such a great guy & legend, on an ordinary day. He said Stan is as wonderful a person as he appears to be.
I hope you get to go again next year, too!
I am singing..."Take me out to the Ball...game!"
Very fun!
About my post today, it was a not very well thought out rant...thanks for your comment.
Please pardon me BUT I have to go way outside the boundaries of good taste to say ~ baseball players have the best butts!!!!! Go Cards ~ I am a fan for life. Been going to games since the early 50's! Now I have to watch them on TV and every time I get to St. Louis during the season, I find a way to get there for at least one game.
That looks like so much fun! We've never made opening day in Cincinnati, but have gone to several games during the season. I'm still upset that they let Griffey go, but oh well...younger players to build a better team. We'll see I guess.
PS...I saw Mark McGuire hit the one before he broke the record. hehehe!

Hi Lisa :)
You mean you didn't join in on the naked dance off?? LOL
It looks like you had a great time. I'm glad those aren't permanent tattoos though ;)
Happy Easter!!
