The Pull of the Moon

My friend Gayla is a "MoonBaby". I don't have any idea what makes a person to be qualified as a "MoonBaby", but she definitely is. Always has been, always will be. So, yesterday morning on the way to work (we leave at 6am and it's still pretty dark) I was awestruck by the moon. It's the closest it's been to the earth in years. It was beautiful. All I could think about was my friend Gayla and how her spirit must be celebrating. Having no idea what "MoonBabies" do when it's this close to the earth, but I imagine it's spectacular. (Unlike rolling naked in the pasture during the double harvest moon years ago. Remember that Gayla? She couldn't talk me into it. Although I did think about it. Just the dare alone was worth it because I didn't think she'd follow through.)
This was last night before we went to a Christmas party. I have to admit (I'd guess I'm a "WaterBaby" compared to Gayla's "MoonBaby") the moon was whispering to me. Telling me to breath in all the spectacular beauty I could stand. And I did...

This is what the moon looked like when we returned home at One a.m. It was almost white. It's amazing to think about how many shared this breathtaking event.

Oh, I am definitely a moon-baby, so tell Gayle "hey" for me!

The moon is wonderful and I also saw it last night. I worked last night and all the callers were acting batty - and I just know it was because of that full-moon.

Wonderful pics!

I was right there with you, a mere 60+ miles away, looking at the same moon. It was awesome and so soul inspiring.

I wish I had thought of the rolling naked part...

The moon was spectacular, wasn't it!

Do you have ice over your way? I think it's been delayed a day, here. We had sleet, but not much else.

Our dogs were barking and barking in the middle of the night. I am guessing it had something to do with the unusual brightness. We could not see any other reason for their persistency.

At least we got to marvel at the sight. It was so pretty.

I did! It was awesome! The night was so pretty with the moonglow all around. The only thing that would have made it prettier would have been snow.

Have a great week!

oh, I'm soooo stealing all your pictures. What fantastic, fantastic shots of my Mr. Moon!!! I'm so beside myself because I can see it again in all its splendor. I loved him even blurry, but those shadows and sharp edges against the night sky are simply soul stopping... Loved your post... Snow today!!! We get out early. Hope I can keep on the road.
